Head of Legal

London/UK  /  Hybrid  /  Legal

We are looking for a Head of Legal to join our dynamic and growing team.

At Navro, we value diversity and are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels supported and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives.

We're not just offering a job - we're offering an adventure alongside a great team.

Not Your Typical Head of Legal Role

This isn’t just another in-house legal position. No legacy systems. No endless corporate red tape. No coasting along. This is about building the legal and regulatory foundations for a category-defining FinTech from the ground up. Fast.

We’re Navro, a rapidly scaling B2B payments startup, and we’re looking for an organised, detailed, self-starting Head of Legal / General Counsel. This is your chance to shape our legal posture, advise on cutting-edge FinTech regulation, influence our market position, set the vision for legal risk management, and make decisions that impact the entire business. You won’t have layers of approval slowing you down. You will have the freedom to provide real, impactful counsel from day one. This isn’t a passenger role. We’re bringing you in for your expertise, legal acumen, and relentless drive.

Who We Are

We are transforming payments for global platforms and e-commerce businesses. As the world’s first payments curation platform, we simplify cross-border transactions by uniting best-in-class infrastructure into a seamless ecosystem, enabling businesses to scale and operate effortlessly across borders. Cross-border workforce payments are slow, expensive, and outdated. We can’t be. Businesses rely on us to pay their people accurately and on time – contractors, freelancers, and employees across the globe. When we say we’ll deliver, failure isn’t an option. If we don’t do what we said we would, people don’t get paid – not just a transaction delayed, but real workers left without wages. That means a developer in Argentina missing their paycheck, a freelancer in the Philippines unable to pay rent, or a contractor in Poland unable to get to work. No excuses. No passengers. No tolerance for politics or mediocrity.

What This Role Demands:

⚡ You Own It – You’re accountable for every piece of advice, every contract drafted, every risk assessed, and every regulatory interpretation. If a legal strategy misses or a compliance gap exists, it’s on you to fix it.

⚡ You Ask the Hard Questions – You don’t just answer legal questions; you challenge assumptions, anticipate risks, and push for legally sound, commercially viable solutions. Why this structure? What are the regulatory implications? Is there a better way?

⚡ You Fix What’s Broken – No waiting for permission. If a contract template is outdated, a process creates risk, or a policy is unclear, you dive in and solve it, building scalable legal infrastructure.

⚡ You’re Hands-On – One minute you’re advising the exec team on strategic partnerships, the next you’re drafting complex payment agreements or interpreting new FinTech regulations.

⚡ You Thrive in Chaos – Startups are messy. Regulations evolve, priorities shift, and ambiguity is constant. You bring legal clarity and structure without getting bogged down by unnecessary bureaucracy.

⚡ You Handle the Pressure – Fast-paced. High stakes. You balance multiple legal demands, manage tight timelines for deals and product launches, and keep moving forward with sound judgment.

⚡ You’re Here for the Journey – This is career-defining. It’s hard, rewarding, and requires building something new. If you’re ready to grow the legal function alongside Navro, let’s build something amazing together.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing strategic legal advice on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters impacting the business.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating diverse commercial agreements, including complex client and vendor contracts, partnership/supply agreements, and referral/reseller agreements.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating key regulatory issues and legal risks across multiple jurisdictions (initially UK/EU focus).
  • Interpreting new regulations and advising on their impact on Navro’s operations and product roadmap.
  • Advising proactively on payments regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with relevant payments laws in the UK and Europe.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating company agreement templates to align with changing laws, regulations, and business needs.
  • Advising on data privacy related issues (e.g., GDPR) and best practices.
  • Partnering closely with commercial, product, risk, treasury, and compliance teams as a real-time, embedded legal advisor to understand their needs and find creative, compliant solutions.
  • Providing end-to-end legal support for the development, launch, management, and expansion of innovative payment products and services.
  • Developing and implementing internal legal policies, procedures, and controls to ensure robust compliance.

What We’re Looking For:

⚡ Qualified Expert: UK-qualified solicitor or barrister with 5-6 years of relevant Post-Qualification Experience (PQE). Some relevant EU legal experience is required.

⚡ Regulatory & Industry Pro: Demonstrable experience in financial services, payments, or other relevant regulatory environments is essential.

⚡ In-House Acumen: Previous in-house experience is strongly preferred, especially within a start-up or scale-up FinTech environment.

⚡ Clear Communicator: Ability to communicate complex legal and regulatory issues clearly and concisely to non-legal audiences at all levels, including senior executives.

⚡ Detail-Obsessed & Proactive: A keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive, “can-do,” self-starter attitude. You don’t wait to be asked.

⚡ Collaborator Extraordinaire: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships and influence effectively across diverse teams and disciplines.

⚡ Problem Solver: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills applied to complex legal and commercial challenges.

⚡ Driven & Adaptable: Passion for working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where creativity, resilience, and adaptability are key. Desire to broaden expertise and embrace new challenges.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience advising on financial regulation pertaining to operational resilience (e.g., DORA), consumer protection (e.g., Consumer Duty), or specific payment regulations (e.g., Interchange Fee Regulations, Cross Border Payment Regulations, Money Laundering Directives).
  • Genuine interest and understanding of the payments, FinTech, banking, or securities industries.
  • Experience working closely with financial services regulators (e.g., FCA) – whether as a regulator, within a regulated firm, or advising regulated firms.
  • Familiarity with legal tech or contract management systems.

Why Navro?

  • Lead and Shape the Future: Build the legal function and directly influence the trajectory of a high-growth FinTech.
  • Make Real Impact: Your counsel will directly shape Navro’s products, partnerships, and growth journey.
  • Innovative Environment: Be at the forefront of payments disruption and FinTech innovation.
